Our client is a sizeable Private Equity firm based in central London. An experienced Financial Controller is required for a 6 month period. this will oversee day-to-day operations in their management accounting team. You will be there during an especially busy time of the year which will include the annual budgeting process and the annual audit process. You will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with relevant experience ideally gained from the Private Equity sector.
The Role
- Managing four direct reports and acting as mentor to develop and maintain the highest quality accounting habits and disciplines
- Overseeing the month-end close process and quarterly reporting to the Board to ensure these are delivered on time and to a high standard
- Principal contact for the external audit of the corporate entities, managing the year end audit process to ensure timely delivery to the Audit Committee
- Cash flow forecasting to enable the company to meet future investment funding requirements and day-to-day working capital needs
- Overseeing the regulatory reporting requirements of the company, including quarterly VAT return, FCA reporting, and ONS reporting
- Reviewing departmental expense reporting/commentary on variances against budget and applying appropriate challenge to the team
- Managing overseas third party outsourced providers to ensure local entity reporting timelines are met
- Shadowing the annual budget/reforecast process and engaging with the various team heads across the business Reviewing fortnightly UK and Offshore payment runs (prepared by the Admin team) with focus on VAT treatment and expense coding
- Ensuring the strict internal controls and processes remain fit for purpose as the company continues to scale, driving change where required
- Proactively building and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues across all levels of the company
Requirements
- Professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Significant post-qualified experience, ideally in private equity or the wider fund management industry.
- Experience of managing people and leading accounting processes
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, ideally with an understanding of, or experience in, financial services
- Knowledge of multi-currency accounting and reporting
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
