Head of Fundraising – Private Equity Real Estate
The Opportunity:
- My client is a highly ambitious and diversified financial services business with its foundation being in the UK Real Estate sector
- With a long track record of success in the UK Real Estate market, the business assets and functions were consolidated several years ago when my client was incorporated. It remains at its heart a family run affair with a meritocratic and philanthropic culture. The ambition of the firm is to grow through diversification away from pure plug and play real estate, through the launching of its first Private Fund (with Fund 2 already in the planning for end of 2025)
- They are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Fundraising Professional to join their Private Equity team and build out this function from the ground up, ensuring that it is functional, scalable and fit for purpose
- This role is to be ideally based in the UK, but could also be located in Japan, UAE – or remotely, as appropriate to geography
- Within this senior role you will utilize your full range of leadership skills – on top of establishing the function, this will include reporting to the Board and Senior Management on KPIs, developing, budgeting and implementing a communication strategy for the UK and internationally, and managing relationships with any appointed external fundraisers
- Through your established network of HNW / UHNW fund buyers, family offices and institutionally minded investors, the aim of this role is to further expand their investor & shareholder base globally for their Private Equity Real Estate Fund (with a focus on Europe and the Middle East), whilst also being mindful of investment opportunities for my client’s other areas of specialism, including Natural Resources, Aviation and Structured Products
- Take a lead in designing, coordinating and preparing client materials, including marketing presentations, portfolio reports, Request for Proposals (RFPs), and Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs)
- Research, identify and attend conferences and events
- Market intelligence – keep up to date with market trends, products, funds and investors, ensuring that investor’s allocation strategies and timelines are updated on the CRM system
Your Experience:
- You will possess a strong and relevant record of academic achievement culminating with an undergraduate degree in Finance or Economics, along with any relevant industry related qualifications. Professional certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) may be preferred or beneficial
- Be able to demonstrate a strong track record of raising capital from relevant fund buyers, particularly HNW / UHNW and institutionally minded investors, in particular Family Offices
- Experience from having been part of a fundraising team at a placement agent or broader alternative asset managers building the relevant investor networks, preferably selling private market strategies
- As aforementioned, a track record within Private Equity and Real Estate knowledge is preferred and would be advantageous, as long as it is combined with a strong level of technical investment knowledge
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills are essential, with a proven ability to build strong, lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders, along with the ability to communicate relevant business and financial product information clearly and accurately
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small team, as well as lead and build a sales function this is scalable and fit for purpose
- Demonstrate proactivity, tenacity, discipline, and enthusiasm for raising capital
- Have the ability to travel globally to meet prospective partners and investors
