Head of Fund Raising – Award Winning Commodities Hedge Fund

The Opportunity:

  • This is a truly unique career opportunity working for an award winning and highly ambitious commodity focused hedge fund with over 5 years successful investment track record since launch
  • The founders of the firm have an enviable track record of success within commodities and are one of the big selling points of this role. As well as external client investment they have their own significant capital invested in their funds, thereby ensuring that their goals are perfectly aligned to that of their investors
  • The strategy of the fund is one of strategic investment diversification, offering arguably a contrarian approach to a typical CTA. Being totally agnostic my client is able to provide investors with a unique investment offering
  • Within this role you will take ownership of all fund-raising activities, working very closely with the wider team who are equally as motivated to double the AuM of the firm and have a clear vision of what success looks like!
  • Defining and building the sales strategy you will take a proactive approach to building my client’s brand amongst the investor community, sourcing and meeting private and institutional investors with a focus on UK, Europe and the Middle East
  • Through your drive and energy you will attend relevant conferences and events (ensuring swift follow-up), and keep up to date with market trends and compile market intelligence on the commodities sector
  • You will coordinate and prepare relevant and perceptive client focused marketing collateral, reports and market insights, including the preparation of RFPs and DDQs

Your Experience:

  • You will be able to demonstrate a strong track record of raising capital from relevant institutional, family office and UHNW investors, with confidence that your previous tangible success is through your relationships and your own personal “brand”
  • Previous commodities experience is not essential, however experience of raising assets for a commodities fund would of course be beneficial. Certainly, a demonstrable interest in the asset class is important
  • What is key is your ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with your peers, combined with your drive to cover a lot of ground and leave no stone unturned in your quest to asset raise. My client wants to see and feel your hunger to succeed and will offer unparalleled support, both financially and morally
  • You will be expected to travel internationally in order to meet prospective partners and investors and use your proven interpersonal and relationship-building skills to foster and nurture long lasting and consultative relationships with fund buyers
  • In summary: proactivity; tenacity; discipline; and passion are the key attributes required. These are what will set the successful candidate apart
  • A strong record of academic achievement within a relevant field of study is expected, with perhaps completion of a relevant professional qualification such as the CAIA, CFA etc.. credibility with investors is paramount
