Finance Operations Associate, Venture Capital

Our client is looking for a sharp, motivated individual to join their small finance team and work closely with the Head of Finance in supporting the operational and reporting needs of their VC fund with $200 million in assets under management.

This role is ideal for someone early in their finance career, perhaps a part-qualified accountant who’s completed the first stage of exams (and possibly into the professional level) – looking to gain exposure to fund operations, portfolio management, and the inner workings of a VC firm.

You will be involved in everything from assisting with financial reporting and fund administration to improving internal processes and supporting investment-related finance work.

  • Assist with the preparation of fund and management company financial statements
  • Support the Head of Finance with fund operations, including capital calls, distributions, investor reporting, and reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate financial records across both the fund and management company
  • Liaise with fund administrators, auditors, tax advisors, and portfolio companies
  • Support preparation of management information, budgets, and cash flow forecasts
  • Help streamline financial processes and reporting workflows
  • Participate in ad hoc financial analysis and project work as the firm grows
  • Stakeholder management, including presentations and LP queries
  • Exposure to all financial aspects of a venture capital fund and management company.
  • Direct mentorship from an experienced Head of Finance
  • Support with continued professional studies
  • Opportunity to learn the operational side of venture capital – from fund management to portfolio support
  • A collaborative and entrepreneurial working culture
  • Excellent salary and bonus

Key Requirements

  • A graduate who is actively studying towards a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA). At least first-level exams completed, ideally into the professional Level
  • 1-2 years post graduation accounting experience, ideally working with SME businesses (either at an accountancy practice or in-house at another financial services firm)
  • Understanding of financial statements and strong core accounting fundamentals
  • Solid Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and numerical accuracy
  • Proactive, intellectually curious, and eager to learn about the VC and investment ecosystem
  • Excellent visual presentations skills – able to prepare clear, professional materials for internal and external stakeholders
  • Naturally analytical and adaptable, comfortable working in a small, fast-moving team
  • Keen to develop a career at the intersection of finance and operations
